Road Trip!
The past two weekends I have been lucky enough to get out of town for some antique shopping in different areas than my own town. Now, I must say that we have some really wonderful antique shops in the Austin area, but I really wanted to venture out to some nearby towns for an adventure! Our old car was on it's very last leg so we never ventured far from home. We traded it in for something much prettier and much newer, so I was itching to get out of town quick! I was so exited! I had waited years for this! Silly me, I didn't take my camera! I had to use my camera phone, so please excuse the poor quality photos. But I just had to share these places with you! The first place I went was Binky La Faye in Llano. It was such a fabulous shop and I even got to meet Binky herself! She was so very sweet! She was wearing an amazing Magnolia Pearl creation. Here she is holding my sweet little guy. This was my favorite room in the shop. Lots of pink, glitter, floral prints and millinery flowers! And this lovely room was all shades of white. I think I need to buy one of those pretty mermaids next time! I wish I had gotten better photos of this wonderful store. My photos really are not doing justice to how pretty everything was.I also visited the lovely little town of Belton. I have been wanting to visit Belton because I wanted to meet my blogging friend Marta. I'm sure lots of you know her from her blog For the Love of Junk. She has a charming antique shop called Marta's Room in Belton and I'd been wanting to visit for so long. She was just as sweet as can be and so fun to talk to! Her shop was so gorgeous but I was so exited to meet her I forgot to take any photos! I didn't realize that till after I left. I'll get plenty of photos when I return next month for her spring show she is having. If you are in the Belton area March 23 and 24th you really should go. She gave me a sneak peek of what she is working on for the show and I can tell you it's going to be fabulous!Another charming shop I visited was As Time Goes By. It is in this sweet little old gingerbread cottage. It was full to the brim with vintage treasures! It was my very favorite style. A mix of cottage, shabby chic and garden. The owner is so sweet and so are her little kitty and adorable tiny doggy who greet you at the door! The only problem is that many of the things I really wanted to buy were not for sale. She lives in this little house and half of it is her living space, so the things in those rooms were not for sale, including all the lovelies on this porch. But she was so nice to give me a tour of her beautiful living space and let me take photos! This was her bedroom. It was filled with stacks of vintage quilts and everything was covered in gorgeous florals! Look at that perfectly faded rug and vintage wallpaper! In the guest room there were so many lovely things. Vintage books, stacks of vintage fabrics, and really sweet vintage toys.Old tattered dollies and bears.Add ImageI really loved this cute dolly with her red polka dot dress. And do you see that tiny doll bed and baby carriage and miniature dressing table? So sweet!!I'm hoping to go to Fredricksburg sometime soon, too. I'll be sure to take my real camera when I go so I can get some better pictures to share. Hope you all have a wonderful Valentine's Day! Next post I'll show you the goodies I bought at Binky's.

Flowers, Sparkle, and Velvet...oh my!
Hello dear friends! My sweet mama finally received her birthday gifts in the mail so now I can show you what was hiding in those boxes! I didn't photograph everything, but in the "velvet" box there was pink velvet ribbon, a pink velvet flower and this gorgeous and quite large vintage velvet strawberry pincushion. Now mama knows just how much I really love her since I restrained myself from keeping this for myself! :) Isn't it just too yummy?
In the "sparkle" box there was vintage style silver tinsel, a small glittered crown and this beautiful and very sparkly crown broach. And the "fluers" box was filled with vintage millinery flowers. Some of these went to mama and some I kept for myself. I have fun plans for them! Aren't these just the prettiest spring colors?I found this darling vintage card for her. I adore vintage cards. They always have the sweetest sentiments. Here is what it says inside. And it's all true. A perfect description about how I feel about my dear sweet mama! It's even more perfect because she loves roses and has an amazing rose garden.I tucked this darling little vintage embroidered linen piece in with her other gifts, too. The colors are divine and that lace edging is just so pretty! In my next post I will show you some of my recent finds and tell you all about my fun road trip! Wishing you all a Happy Valentine's Day!

Wrapping Up Pretty Things...I've been busy wrapping up my sweet mama's birthday presents!
I can't show you what's inside till she receives her box of goodies in the mail, but here's a clue:
Each package has a tag with a hint of what is inside! One has velvet...

one has sparkle...
and one has flowers! (but isn't the French word "fleurs" even more fun?)I love the using the plain paper. I think it really makes the embellishments stand out.
I've also been doing a little bit of decorating for Valentine's day.
Just a little bit here and there. Some vintage red, pink, and white buttons on a sweet little plate.
My vintage Valentine candy boxes. Aren't they gorgeous?! And here's a romantic basket full of dreamy vintage goodness! I still want to make some Valentine crafts. Hopefully soon! Hopefully before Valentine's Day has come! Sometimes the holidays pass by before I get crafting! Does that ever happen to you? Next time I'll show what vintage treasures were hiding in those boxes. I'm linking up with Debra at Common Ground for Vintage Inspiration Friday!
